Crafted from reclaimed wood, each frame has its own natural character, texture, and variation—no two are exactly alike.

Your dog does not need to sit perfectly, stay on command, or suddenly become a different dog for the camera.
Leashes can stay on. Breaks are welcome. Sniffing is expected.
There’s plenty of time to move, explore, and settle in. I work around your dog instead of expecting your dog to work around me.

02 — Complete Your Application
Tell me about the dog you love.
Share what your dog means to you, what you love about life together, and why they’re such an important part of your family.
03 — Four Households Are Selected
I’ll personally review the completed applications and select one Grand Prize recipient and three Runner-Up recipients based on their responses and overall fit with the West Oak experience.
04 — Have an Adventure!
If selected, I’ll take it from here.
I’ll guide you through planning your session, creating photographs you love, and choosing how you’d like to enjoy them afterward.
FROM PHOTOGRAPHS TO ARTWORK
A West Oak experience doesn’t end with photographs sitting in an online gallery.
I offer handcrafted wall art, Folio Boxes, Albums, and more, designed to give your favorite photographs a place in your home.
After your session, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the photographs and artwork that feel right for you.
Most West Oak clients invest $1,600–$4,000 in their finished artwork.

Hi, I’m Sarah!
I’m the photographer behind West Oak Dog Photography.
My dogs (Westley, Oakley & Teddy) and cats (Meeko & Remy) are family, and I adore them. They make my life happier, fuller, and a whole lot more fun. Even now, I’m writing this while trying to see my screen around a 16-pound cat asleep on my chest—and I wouldn’t move him for anything.
That’s the kind of love I want to photograph. The kind where your dog isn’t simply part of your life—they make your life better just by being in it.
And I believe photographs of the ones we love this much deserve more than a place on our phones. There’s something special about seeing them in your home every day, which is why creating meaningful artwork is such an important part of the West Oak experience.
You bring the dog you love. I’ll take care of the rest.

You’re eligible to enter if you:
Are 18 or older
Can travel to an approved session location within approximately 30 minutes of Whitmore Lake, Michigan
Can complete your session by November 15, 2026
Are willing to complete West Oak’s standard session agreement and model release if selected
Multiple dogs are welcome! People and other pets from the same household can join, too.

Not at all! Your dog doesn’t need to sit perfectly or stay on command.
Leashes can stay on, breaks are welcome, and there’s plenty of time to move, sniff, and settle in.

Absolutely! You only need to submit one application per household, even if you’d like to include multiple dogs.
Multiple dogs from the same household are welcome, and people and other pets from the household can join the session, too.

Sessions take place at beautiful outdoor locations within approximately 30 minutes of Whitmore Lake, Michigan.
You’re welcome to apply from anywhere in Southeast Michigan as long as one of those locations works for you.

All prize sessions must be completed by November 15, 2026.

Your prize includes the items listed above. After your session, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase additional photographs and artwork if you’d like.

If you decide you’d like to create a larger or more customized artwork collection, I’ll walk you through those options after your gallery reveal.

Your artwork credit can be applied toward eligible West Oak artwork purchased from your session. It is non-transferable, has no cash value, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
