Because we all know Michigan weather...

One minute we have a heavy, clinging snow that turns the trees into a masterpiece—and a few hours later, it’s gone.

The best winter portraits happen in that unpredictable window between the first snowfall and the inevitable thaw.

Since we can’t schedule the weather weeks in advance, I created my Snow Day Priority List. It’s a notification system for people who want to move quickly when the conditions are perfect. I watch the radar, and when a "go" day is coming, I open up a handful of 20-minute time slots for the upcoming weekend.

January & February: Snow Day Pop-Up Sessions

The perfect Michigan winter landscape is unpredictable. To catch the best conditions, I offer Snow Day Pop-Up Sessions on select Saturdays and Sundays throughout January and February. These are fast, 20-minute sessions designed to get high-end portraits of your dog without spending an hour out in the cold.

How it Works

  • Join the List: Sign up below to be notified when the snow hits.

  • The Friday Update: If the weekend forecast looks promising, I will email this group by Friday morning with available time slots.

  • Secure Your Spot: Spots are extremely limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A $200 payment secures your session and includes one high-resolution digital file.

  • The Reveal: Following our session, you will receive a curated gallery and a personalized video walkthrough to help you select your included image and view additional artwork options.

I specialize in Folio Boxes, Wall Art, and custom Albums—with special event pricing available for all Snow Day attendees.

If the weather turns and the snow melts before your session, you won’t lose your investment. You can choose to:

  1. Wait for the Snow: Keep your spot and get first priority for the very next Snow Day Pop-Up.

  2. Upgrade Your Experience: Use your $200 as a product credit toward a future full Signature Session with West Oak.

Location

Sessions take place at select metroparks in the Ann Arbor and Brighton areas (typically Hudson Mills Metropark or Kensington Metropark). The exact location for the weekend will be confirmed in your Friday morning email.

Is my dog a fit?

All dogs are welcome, regardless of age or training level. I am experienced in working with high-energy dogs and those who need to remain on a leash (I professionally remove leashes in post-processing). If your dog loves the cold, they are a perfect fit.
